What’s your interior era?

Do you ever wonder why you love or perhaps even hate certain objects?

In this case I’m talking about homewares but it can apply to anything really. Things go in and out of fashion but most of us, I think, stay true to a particular look or feeling that we feel is “us”. Perhaps just honing our style as time goes on.

Certain objects for the home can bring back strong feelings and memories from childhood, especially if like me you do buy a lot of second hand and vintage bits. I admit I’ve occasionally brought something home and my other half cant bear it, he is a bit older than me so remembers different eras.annie sloan workshop green painted cabinat

The clever people over at Co-Operative insurance have created a rather fun tool to tell you what your interior era is (or should be) … I’m told its a bit like Tinder (the dating smartphone app) where you swipe if you like!

I would describe my interior style as eclectic bohemian with a strong vintage influence, so I was intrigued as how this little tool would define me. I’m not really one for labels but quizzes like this are fun and intriguing… Ever just lost half an hour on Buzzfeed quizzes- me too!#shelfie ikea EKBY GÄLLÖ kitchen shelves above radiatorSo what interior era do you think I got?

Well, I got 1920’s!!

I guessed it would be something over thirty years ago, but was surprised to have it suggest so far back. I think it must be because some of my style could be called eccentric.

I call it Addams Family style, and the 1920s did have a lot of glamour, was rather lavish and eccentric- the rich trying to out do each other with opulent or rare things for the home. Some of these quirky things I do love so this must be the reason… So I suppose this tool is somewhat accurate.

So if you’ve five minutes, make yourself a cup of tea and pop over here to have a play, do let me know what you got in the comments!

Haha, I got 1920’s too! Didn’t expect it, thought I was a 60’s girl 😉 But apparently the Addams Family theme we are having on Oh Marie is making an impact on me!

Oh I got the 1930’s which seems a bit off to me – ha! I like Hollywood Regency and some 60s/70s glam so maybe my style is harder to pin down to one era, I like a bit of eccentricity too! 😉 xx

I get a different answer each time I do it. I must be going through a “transitional period” 🙂

I got the 80’s! I hate the 80’s! I think it was because I like both vintage and modern. Fun to play though 🙂

I still love vintage pieces but I also love mixing in modern pieces and have definitely been erring towards a slightly more simple interior feel though I’m still far from being a minimalist! x

Well that’s not surprising for you I guess, I bet I’d get something from the 50s/60s, cool idea x

I got the 1940s. Not surprising in many ways…but my tastes have changed so much in the past 3 years from very vintage to very contemporary so I guess I expected something a little more on the modern side…x
