Vintage style Mothers Day in Art Deco Tea Rooms!

What are you doing for Mothers Day? Fancy doing something with vintage twist? Well let me introduce you to the Plaza Cafe Lounge in Stockport. Originally opened in 1932 but Mr Ted Doan can explain it better;
In October 1932 a vision was born for Stockport and the Northwest in the form of a Super Cinema and Variety Theatre that would evoke the glamour of the era with its sumptuous surroundings, highest possible attention to detail in it’s customer care and an eclectic mix of screen and stage presentation, supported by the finest cafe dining experience in the region…

With our ongoing maintenance and restoration appeal dedicated to develop and maintain the Plaza acclaimed as the UK’s finest example of its genre and a building of international significance your support in joining us for a future event helps us preserve this magnificent building for future generations and enables us to serve you for many more years to come…..

I look forward to hopefully welcoming you to the Plaza in Stockport in person in the very near future….

Walking into this place is like going into a time warp all the way back to the old school glamour of Hollywood! Its restoration project is ongoing but the are doing a fantastic job of keeping it authentic. See the pictures here.
At the Plaza Cafe Lounge they are experts in Afternoon Tea and have a variety on offer, see the menu here. They are doing a special on Mothers day and booking is advised.
What really struck me about this place was the similarity to Stanley Kubricks film “The Shining”, specifically the ballroom scene.

These show the venue in 1932 and present day.
And here is a picture from The Shining.

You are probably all thinking- What is she on about this time! But you’ll have to go there and find out!! If your mum likes something a bit different than the norm but with bucketloads of elegance (and cake) then this is for you!
