Vintage style hallway storage

Hallways and entry areas can often be really tricky to deal with.

These are high traffic areas of the home and need to perform for every member of the household. When they don’t work it can be hugely annoying. Who has the time to run upstairs and get the kids hats or your sunglasses?

When we first moved into our house, before we had the kitchen done, we used to hang coats on the back of the kitchen door- cue coats smelling of last nights tea. Not great.

But we’d just moved in, and Elizabeth came along a month later. There was no time to think, or even care if my coat smelled of fried onions… True story.

So we just had a little bookcase with a lamp on top and a basket for our keys. I’ve been on the look out for something for the hall for a while now and I’ve struggled. Things were either too long, too deep or the style not right. You can have a look at my Hallway pin board if you fancy a look for some of your own hallway inspiration.

I decided something wall mounted would work best for the space we have, something incorporating storage, hooks and somewhere to place a lamp.

So when I saw this cubby hole storage piece from Within , I thought it could really make the difference to our hallway space. There’s loads of storage here and I plan to insert labels into the spaces with our names and/or keys, sunglasses etc.

The great thing is it goes with the other things we have in the hall already- on the opposite wall there is a printers tray with lots of nic nacs inside so the storage in compartments theme is echoed here. Its also a similar type of solid wood.

I love the fact it looks like an vintage apothecary or library piece of furniture- it really fits in with our home.hallway cubby storageI do hope you can get an good idea of this piece- I found it really tricky to photograph as I couldn’t get far back enough… Narrow hallways eh!?

How does your hallway work for you?

Disclosure- I received this piece for the purposes of this review- all thoughts and words about it are my own.
