Vintage Patterns

Hello lovely readers!

As you maybe aware I now have a sewing machine!

So it follows that I’ve been looking at lots of beautiful vintage sewing patterns on places like Etsy and eBay. Many of these pattern are in very small sizes and I know there are tutorials on resizing vintage patterns but I’ve not even made my first item of clothing yet so didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew!

Therefore when I came across Colette Patterns I was thrilled to bits!

These look ideal for beginners as they come with a step by step booklet and I managed to find a seller on eBay. I went for a dress pattern called Crepe similar to a Swirl dress, for more information about Swirl dresses see post Swirl dress I heart thee.

As you can see from the photograph below- the instruction booklet seems very detailed and pretty foolproof!

Although the proof will be in the pudding- now I just need to find the time to make it!

Have you had much luck using actual vintage patterns? What is the best thing you’ve made or wear the most?

I’ve made a few party frocks from a reprinted 1950s Vogue pattern, love them.
