Vintage Girl Essentials Part Two- The Marilyn Dress

Hello lovely readers and welcome to the second instalment of my vintage girl essentials series. This week I’m discussing how we all need a Marilyn Monroe Dress in our wardrobes.

I don’t need to tell you that Miss Monroe is still seen as the ultimate sex symbol. A potent mixture of little girl lost and stunning charismatic beauty. I know she had her problems, but projecting what she did on screen is something we’d all love a taste of right?

Well now you don’t need to marry a millionaire (geddit?) to get a piece of the glamour. Allow me to introduce you to Big Beautiful Barbara Brown and her Marilyn Monroe Outfits.

This little number below is inspired by the film Bus Stop (1956), one of my particular favourite Marilyn films and is believed to be one of her best performances. I love her look in this film, even though she’s playing a washed up singer I think she looks incredibly healthy and alive. Here you can see the dress by Big Beautiful Barbara Brown is a superb replica- just add some fishnets and you are ready to go!

Another of Marilyn Monroes iconic outfits is the dress from Niagara (1953). In some shots it looks red, in others pink, but in every shot it is a killer dress that will show off your curves to their best advantage. This dress should probably  come with a health warning!

Big Beautiful Barbara Brown creates a wide variety of repro outfits, not just Marilyn themed and is offering my lovely readers a rather generous 25% off anything from the BBBB website if you contact before ordering and quote “Old Fashioned Susie”- this offer is through March until the end of April 2013.

Emily, the lady behind BBBB is preparing to launch a stand alone site called Dress Like Marilyn- if you fancy keeping up to date with that- I know I do, then give the Dress Like Marilyn Facebook page a Like, she’s promised 25% off on the launch day of the site for all her customers, so well worth it!
