Vintage Beauty Parlour Manchester

I really need to tell you all about a lovely and very talented lady called Bethany Jane Davies, she is a vintage style hair and make-up artist and luckily for me is based in Manchester.

You may have heard of her as she often works on vintage photoshoot’s for brands such as 20th Century Foxy and she travels around with her vintage beauty parlour, showcasing her skills at vintage wedding fairs and weekender’s.

She is also a dab hand at cutting that vintage girls hair saviour- the middy! Hurrah, now I don’t have to attempt to go down to London whenever I need a hair cut or sit in modern salon whilst smiling through gritted teeth as the stylist doesn’t know what I’m on about!

Having said that if you do like the modern salons see my post here about Vintage Hair Up North.

Anyway brace yourselves for some pictures of great hair, but no made-up face on as I’m still going without make-up, (see My Weird Face for more details about that) until Friday when I’m heading for Slippery Belle’s 5th Birthday Bash!

These two are straight afterwards on Monday night when I got home! I really wanted to go somewhere and show it off!

This is Tuesday, I slept with a scarf on to stop and fuzziness and to preserve the curl. I’ve pinned it up at the back here and the front and then  put a different style scarf on for more protection!
This is today – Wednesday, I basically slept with this scarf on and have retied it this morning as its chucking it down with rain today and I need to avoid getting it wet if I want it to last. The curls have dropped a little  but you’d hardly notice!
I think its pretty obvious but just in case its not – I love my hair now!!!!! Bethany is brilliant! Lets hope I can do the cut justice when it comes to styling it myself!

What talent! I envy girls (like you) who can pull off vintage hairstyles. You look lovely. I wish there was a vintage hairstylist in my area. If there is, I certainly don’t know about it. Lol.

Very beautful hair!!! I am learning how to do my own pin curls and then sleeping in them at night to have lovely hair…it is a work in progress. 🙂

*I am a new follower and not quite sure how I got to your blog. 🙂

Your hair looks fantastic! I’ve heard a lot of good things about B.J.D. I realise this post was a while ago, but wondering if you can remember approximately how much it cost for this cut and style? I’m thinking of going for a middy haircut myself soon and also live in Manchester 🙂

Hi there! It’s best to contact Bethany via her website but I think its around £60, which is what you’d pay for a “normal” style in a “normal” salon these days! xx

You know alot of the old styles, say form the 50s are actually coming back into fashion, and thats for both the girls and boys.
