Thrifty Thursday- Blog Makeover

As you might have noticed I’m part way through a blog makeover. This blog has had various guises since I started in January 2010.

The header on this blog has been; a vintage style teacher at a chalkboard to a illustration of myself by a local artist to a more accurate photograph of yours truly.

Now in its current state – a simple white background with some lovely fonts on top, it looks simple and clean ( my current WordPress theme is Fresh & Clean) but I beginning to think it needs brightening up.

After a tip off I had as search on Etsy for ready made blog headers, lo and behold I found some and they are very well priced- especially as it save you the time of doing it yourself.

This one is £6.68 and you can find it here.

This one is £10.02 and the seller also offers free backgrounds and buttons to match the theme. Find it here.

This one is £16.71- you can probably tell I like headers to be bold and colourful- I’m not really into whimsical but there’s such variety on Etsy you are sure to find something you like. This one is here.

What I was also impressed with is the variety of blog buttons available too… I’ll be changing mine soon.

These hand drawn ones really caught my eye- buy them here for £5.20.

And these are so cute I almost want to start a travel blog! Love the nautical colours- find them here for £20.

How do you tackle a blog makeover? Any tips?

I’m currently planning/failing to think about a redesign for my blog to coincide with its 2nd anniversary next month, you’ve given me a great new option of where to look and some good ideas; I wouldn’t have thought to look on etsy for anything like this!
I’m trying to keep it clean and minimalist as it already is, but want something a bit more interesting and eyecatching. I can tell it is going to take work!
Good luck with your redesign, I know it’ll look awesome when you’ve finished!

Mine is almost finished and feel free to check it out. I say enlist a friend that has web design skills or get a webmaster. I have a two in one, my friend who is also my webmaster LOL Let me know if you like it and I can give you my webmasters info. Thats the way I tackled it. Also, begin with what theme do you want to blog to have and what colors-starting with that helps heaps! Good luck with your redesigning!! xox
