Non profit organisation Manchester Lindy organise events for Lindy Hop and swing dancers, including a weekly Tuesday night (with lessons) and monthly Sunday afternoon dances. But they have something new up their sleeves that will be a bit more of a party and night out, as there’s only so much fun you can have on a Sunday afternoon…
Introducing The Jelly Roll Club. Playing 1920’s to 1940’s swing and jazz music for most of the night, befitting the style of dancing that will more than likely be occurring There is no dress code, as this is an event aimed at dancers, not strictly a ‘vintage’ thing, but most people do make an effort and anyone is more than welcome to come along.
Towards the end of the evening there will be be a departure from the vintage music theme (for about the last hour). Manchester Lindy have discovered that after all that partner dancing people tend to enjoy the opportunity for just having a bit of a groove by themselves, so for that last hour they’re going to play some good dancing music – think wedding disco!!
This sounds like a really great night out and we wish it every success, Manchester needs a regular night out where folks can dress up again!
