The brilliant Breton

I don’t know about you but I love Breton stripes.

Breton tops in particular are a staple in my wardrobe. Stripes always look so clean and fresh, and strike that perfect balance of smart casual (I’m aware I sound a bit like Alan Partridge there!).

Every wardrobe needs a Breton top as they go with anything and never go out of style. A true fashion classic.

I’ve recently received a Joules Breton top to try, but I wanted to go outside my comfort zone of teaming it with GAP jeans and Converse or Freddie’s high waisted jeans and Converse….. So I had a think about what I already have in my wardrobe and barely worn.

So out came a black leather pencil skirt I’ve had for about seven years!! I have worn it but not enough… And I chose something other than Converse for my feet!

The top is Mariners grade jersey which basically means its not the regular jersey your t shirt is made from. This is a thicker grade jersey- great for Spring days when it can still feel a bit chilly in the shade, it also helps to keep the shape of the top after washing.

I teamed the Breton with the leather skirt- tucked into the skirt and I wore some ankle socks with plimsolls to really push myself out of my comfort zone. Thankfully I didn’t get laughed at in the street (anyone else have that worry when wearing something away from the norm?).
