Printing Photos- a Collaboration

Let me ask you something. When was the last time you had some photos printed out?

I currently have 2,036 images on my phone, and counting. I have a DSLR but the majority of the photos I take are on my  phone as its always handy. How may do you have?

Let me tell you about the last time I printed some photos…

It was for a pitch I did with Thompson Holidays at Blogtacular in June this year. Thompson are very open to working with bloggers and know the value that bloggers can bring to the table with regard to their audience. So they teamed up with Blogtacular to find some new bloggers to work with, and all the Blogtacular conference attendees had the opportunity to pitch for a holiday with Thompson.

We had two minutes to pitch, so it had to be concise, memorable and unique. I wanted to bring something other than myself to the pitch- something visceral, something visual. A handful of photographs from our recent Whitby holiday were the answer. My blog is rarely just about what I write, the visuals are just as important and I wanted to convey this in my pitch.

The Thompson pitch went really well- the bloggers whom Thompson have chosen to work with haven’t  been announced yet. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Lets hope the photographs worked!

So when was the last time you had some photos printed?

These mock Polaroid are from Polagram and our goofy passport booth strip is from the ever brilliant Fred Aldous shop in Manchester.poleroid passport memories

The vibe of Blogtacular this year was very much about collaboration, and as part of that theme sponsors Mollie Makes invited everyone to be a part of their Collaboration Raffle. Whoever fancied a random partnership opportunity just handed over their business cards to Mollie Makes- and they did the rest.

I was thrilled to get the email telling me I’d been matched with Xanthe Berkeley– one of the fabulous ladies that led the photowalk on the morning of Blogtacular. We’ve been emailing back and forth honing our idea and getting to know each other a little.

Xanthe and I are collaborating to encourage each other to get our photos out of the camera and into our hands. Being able to treasure a memory and hold onto it, something you’ve made… Its a powerful thing. Something I said I wanted to do more of after digesting my Blogtacular takeaways.

So you can expect to see on here articles about where I get my photos printed, how to display photographs in your home, my recommendations for frames and photo albums. Xanthe {who is a professional photographer)  will be sharing her organisational tips and places to print along with how to choose your prints and some of the finer details.

If you are in the same position as me and feel your camera is overflowing with pretties but you’ve not actually printed any out for far too long then do join us using the hashtag #printingmyphotos.

You can find Xanthe on Instagram here and my Instagram is here. Lets get some photos printed!

I really really need to print some and frame some. We have thousands and we tend to store them away on the laptop!

This is so timely for me, one of my bucket list to do jobs is print the thousands and thousands of photos I have! The job has become so huge, I keep putting it off, but you’ve given me a kick! Watch this space, xx

I love this, I often say how I have no proper copies of photos anymore and just show people them on my phone or email them to another. Even photo frames are digital these days!! It’s nice to have them backed up but printed copies can be nice. #sharefriday x

We should print photos & make a collage, something on show to remind us of fun times, I think i’ll try it. Godlike with Thompson pitch.
