Today I’m sharing with you a little update on our hallway.
You might remember the vintage style hallway storage from Within Home. These cubby holes are so useful as I predicted they would be (labels made by eldest) we store sunglasses, hats, keys and more in there.
I’ve been after a long term lighting solution for on top of the cubby holes. In these photographs you can see we’ve been using an antique glass pendant shade; with a bunch of Ikea fairy lights tucked up inside. It worked and was pretty when we used it, but it was very fiddly, and because you had to lift it up each time to switch it on and off, you were scared of dropping it.
As the cubby hole unit isn’t extremely deep I had to find a light that wouldn’t look like it was to big for the location. I also needed to consider the weight of the light, as we live in an old house and the cubby hole unit is wall mounted. The wall are nearly 100 years old and are can be very temperamental when we want to hang things on them! And I obviously wanted something in keeping with the vintage style I love.
So when I discovered the quirky Antique Thomas Edison Table lamp I checked its dimensions worked and when they did, I knew its vintage look would compliment the space too.
