October Half Term Fashion – Country Chic

The October half-term can be the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with your nearest and dearest. Now, you’re unlikely to experience a hot climate here in the UK or anywhere less than four hours away by plane, but if you embrace this brisk weather a country retreat can be just what you need. Packing women’s clothes for an October break can be tough as there’s a tendency to go overboard on little tops “just in case” it’s sunny. Come on ladies, you’re not fooling anyone! The likelihood is that you’ll be wrapped up in coats, hats and gloves donning wellies and an umbrella. So, it’s not the Bahamas, but you can still look hot in the UK, even if the weather’s not!

This season it’s all about looking country chic. So, how to do it?

Outerwear

A quilted jacket is perfect to create the country chic look. Not only are they bang on trend at the minute, they’re practical too. Many quilted jackets are lined and padded meaning it will keep you dry and cosy.

A gilet is a sound investment as you’re pretty much guaranteed that it will last a number of years and because it’s such a classic look you know you can wear it year upon year. Opt for subtle colours such as navy, khaki and black so that you can wear it with everything.

Tops

You can’t get more country than a cable knit jumper. The great thing about these jumpers is that they suit all body shapes and you can usually find them in every colour in the rainbow; from mustard yellow for that really golden, crisp autumnal feel, or pastel pink to contrast a khaki wax jacket.

It’s important to layer up too, because although it might be chilly on a coastal walk, lunching in a pub will require a few less layers – try wearing a patterned vest top underneath so that if you do have to de-layer, you’ll maintain looking stylish.

Bottoms

Most bottoms will work with a country chic look, so you can complete the look with skinny jeans, jodhpur like leggings or woolly tights. As long as you can tuck it into wellies, you’re pretty much sorted!

Footwear

Of course, wellies are an absolute must if you’re venturing to the English countryside this time of the year, and you can totally work the welly look into your outfit. For a traditional, country feel go green but if you want to experiment with brighter colours and patterns then this works too. Try a ditsy floral print or polka dot design for a cute-country girl look. Of course, teaming these wellies with legwarmers and over the knee socks is the ultimate country chic accessory.

When you’re not exploring, opt for ankle boots as they’re a key country look. Buckle boots with a low heel are perfect – look out for deep autumnal tones like burgundy, navy and tan.

Even if you’re not going away this half-term, keep yourself bang on trend with the country chic style.
