Joseph Joseph Self Locking Knife Block

Hello readers- today I’m sharing with you a new Joseph Joseph kitchen product.

You probably know Joseph Joseph from their other products such as the coloured chopping boards and perhaps their Nest range of mixing bowls and measuring cups.

This latest product is a self locking knife block. Big enough for six large knives this can sit on your worktop but not be a worry for parents from prying hands. Once the knife is inserted, it is locked into place and no matter how hard the handle is pulled the knife will not come away from the block without the release mechanism being applied.lock block joseph joseph

The lock block will fit any types of knife you have but can also be bought to include the knives if you wanted. It retails for around £60 without the knives (which is the one I have).lock block knives

Apart from the obvious child safety positives with this product, keeping knifes in a block and not a drawer does keep them sharp and less likely to get damaged. I really like this product and the idea behind it, there’s no substitute for good parenting though but accidents do happen and this product would hopefully avoid any knife related ones!

The thing is we have way more than six knives, so they all cant be kept in the block… We probably do have too many knives though, but you have your favourites right? kitchen safety lock blockPerhaps its time for a knife sort out, how do you store your knives in the kitchen? (and yes we haven’t decided on tiles for the kitchen yet!)

Disclosure- I was sent this product for the purposes of a review.

We love Joseph Joseph products! We have quite a few of our own (yes, the coloured chopping boards, but also their garlic crusher, cooking utensils, and a few other bits). Thanks for reviewing this item though – we’d never need it for ourselves, but my mum is now guardian to my two young nieces and they have problems around food stemming from when they lived with their parents. To help them get over this, my mum will be getting them in the kitchen as much as possible, to work with her in preparing salads/baking/etc, and she has to move her knives to a new and safer location (they were in a bottom cupboard on a magnetic strip before the girls went to live with her), so I’ve sent her the link to this, because it really does look like the ideal solution and we might not have found it if you hadn’t blogged about it. Cheers! 🙂

This is a great idea actually. Even when knives are up on a counter they’re not safe when you have a climber like we do!

I LOVE Joseph and Joseph products but didn’t realise they did this though – sounds like a great idea and good that you don’t have to necessarily use their knives either #TriedTested
