Instant Photography from Impossible/Incognito

Northern Quarter gift and photography store Incognito has become the headquarters of Impossible Project in the UK – making the film available alongside a wide range of reconditioned Polaroid cameras and many other toy cameras, gifts and cards.

Beyond just selling the film the Impossible Partner Store will act a physical hub for the instant analogue community – hosting workshops, artist talks, exhibitions and other events in the basement gallery space.

Impossible Project have been keeping alive the magic of instant photography since 2008 when they took over the last remaining Polaroid factory just days before it was due to be demolished. They embarked on a mission to develop a totally new instant film product that could be used with the millions of Polaroid cameras that were in danger of becoming just beautiful objects. Since then they have created integral film for the SX70, 600 and 1200 series cameras – saving millions of vintage cameras from becoming obsolete.

Impossible Partner Store will run regular Beginners Workshops where you can learn the most effective ways to make instant images – exploring the unique characteristics and magical colour palettes of the Colour Shade and Silver Shade films. Vintage Manchester photographer Thomas Wright will also be on hand to explain how to frame a scene and how to experiment with temperature and shielding techniques. Sessions cost £30 advance and £35 on the day.

Next session will take place on Tuesday 19th June. Book online here Incognito
