Hello! Just recently Event City at the Trafford centre played host to the Ideal Home Show and I popped along on the Sunday to take a closer look.
I parked at the Trafford centre and walked across as the sheer volume of cars can get rather bonkers when there is a show on at Event City.
First on my list was to get my bearings inside the venue, these events are massive but I’m pleased to say this was more manageable than my trip to Grand Designs last month. Wandering through the different areas it was great to see the amount of people visiting that are interested in improving their homes.
There is a definite trend at the moment for people staying where they are, and improving or extending, rather than moving house. The Ideal Home Show is the perfect place to find ideas to do just that.
I made it just in time to see one of the talks in the theater area where fellow blogger Kimberly from Swoonworthy was giving a talk on how to upscale your interiors without spending a fortune- my kind of lecture! I found Kimberly’s talk to be really inspirational and the slides she used were all photos of her home- so dreamy- check out her house tour. (when can I move in?)
The interior sets I didn’t find as inspiring as the ones in London I saw. I felt perhaps the stylists had been told to play it safe as they’re ‘op north and we wont “get it”. But there were some cutting edge products on show like the fire in the table- ran off a gas bottle fitted underneath- very luxurious ! See below.
I then paid a visit to the Stressless Ekornes stand where I experienced a super comfortable sit down- I actually could’ve sat there all day! Stressless design uber cosy and supportive seating, mainly armchairs but also sofas and office chairs. Made in Norway all their products recline to give you that floating on a cloud whilst watching the TV kind of feeling. You feel weightless and relaxed straight away! And if you are in one of the armchairs with a rotating base then you also have that Bond villain thing going on too 😉
The Stressless products are really high quality pieces of furniture and as you might imagine a lot of their customers are older people who perhaps cant get around as much as they used to or people who are seated most of the day in a home office.
Next door to Stressless was the Arighi Bianchi stand- whom are also one of the main UK stockists of Ekornes. Arighi Bianchi are a bit of an institution in the North West and if you haven’t visited their showroom in Macclesfield then go, its not just sofas but lighting, soft furnishing and has a lovely cafe with on-site bakery.
To compliment my visit to the Ideal Home Show I’m thrilled to offer a brilliant prize, in partnership with Ekornes, from Scandi interior store Cloudberry Living. There are some gorgeous things on their site and the lucky winner will have £100 to spend!
