Gallery Wall Inspiration & a Print Giveaway

Today I want to share with you some ideas on displaying art, photos, prints and other types of pictures in your home.

I’m going to focus on what is often dubbed a Gallery Wall.

And oh my goodness I’ve ANOTHER giveaway for you at the end of the post too!

A gallery wall is when pictures are grouped together to give a focus point in a room. The grouping can have a theme but often doesnt, its a way of showing off your favourite places, holidays, people and things that make you smile.

Here’s an example, on a rather grand scale, of a themed gallery wall inside the Manchester branch of The Cosy Club (photo by me). Vintage portraits and landscapes with a few bits of taxidermy thrown in for good measure.gallery wall in manchester cosy club bar

The trick is with a gallery wall is to curate with confidence.

If you love it, it will work. I have a stack of pictures ready to hang but there’s some live cables in the wall that need sorting first. So here’s some more gallery wall inspiration…

If you prefer a more formal style then you might like to have a simple symmetrical look to your gallery wall.formal gallery wallImage from southshoredecoratingblog.com

I must admit I’m more the eclectic layout kind of girl…. I like to play around with the pictures until something fits, most of mine are different sizes anyway, and different frames. You might like to incorporate three dimensional items, antlers are great for this. antler taxidermy gallery wall

If you’d like to create a gallery wall at home but want to add to your collection first, then I might just have the very thing you need.

You can win  £40 of art from Place In Print.

These prints are stylish and have a little bit of a sixties feel about them. Some have a clever and humorous way of describing places. I love this Catford print, (I’ve never been to Catford though!) cats are so elegant. This would be perfect for a monochrome themed gallery wall.elegant back cat printIf you are a Londoner, or a huge fan of the capital there is plenty of visual pun style prints to choose from.Clapham_wf

And this map of UK postcodes would cheer up any room in yellow.yellow map uk postcode pegboard

I like the Wimbledon prints because we used to live there. I’d probably choose between the clever Wimbledon type map (which includes our street) or the Rushmere Pond print (we lived really close to it and walked by there often, especially when taking my daughter for walks).

I had wanted a gallery wall at home for a couple of years but putting it together really worried me. I normally need everything to be symmetrical but I felt I wanted something more organic this time. I finally got round to creating the display in my bedroom and I love it.
