I’ve noticed of late the majestic elephant is having a bit of a resurgence in the interiors world.
Elephant shapes and motifs are cropping up on everything from cushions to rugs to crockery. The huge seventies trend at the moment is part of this revival as carved elephants were THE thing to collect back then. Today I thought I’d round up the herd (groan!) and show you a few of my favorites that you can buy now.
First up is this cutie from Urban Outfitters- an elephant mug for £12. I can imagine sitting back with a huge hot chocolate in this come autumn.
When I saw this little elephant I just had to have him. Just the right mix for me of practical and pretty. This Jumbo cutlery drainer was sent to me care of Red Candy- isn’t he the cutest thing? He is currently helping me with the washing up in the kitchen but I may move him upstairs into the bathroom for toothbrushes. He’s not as weighty as perhaps he should be so I feel like he might tip over if I overload him. But we shall see- he’s certainly brightening up my sink area.
If you haven’t been on Red Candy– let me share with you their strap-line, “Shut Up, Beige!”. Need I say more??? Seriously there is loads on that site that I want *adds to birthday wishlist*
Next up is this beautiful white elephant hook from Anthropologie for £16. You cant underestimate how useful hooks are- we have an increasing amount of hooks in our home. I’m always on the lookout for pretty hooks and this elephant one would look great just about anywhere.Next up this beautiful Pink Faux Taxidermy Elephant at £19.72. I’ve a bit of a soft spot for pink elephants, despite not being a “pink” kind of gal, probably due to the fact Madonna sung about Pink Elephants and Lemonade in the 1980s… Anyway the detail in this looks extraordinary and yes they post to the UK and this etsy seller can make them in a whole kaleidoscope of colours. This elephant print which I found again on Etsy comes out of my own sunny Manchester. It feels a bit psychedelic, late 60s early 70s but totally modern at the same time. Prices start at £14.95 The African and Safari themes that seem to be around at the moment really can add a sense of warmth to your home. As always I like to mix things up and not go with one trend but pick elements of it and build up my home style from there. I think this elephant cushion from Folksy would be a really easy way to add this trend to your living space, and who doesn’t love a pom pom trim!
Do you have any elephants roaming around your home?
