With Easter fast approaching and the weather slowly improving my thoughts turn to the garden and our outside space.
It’s safe to say that since moving into our home we’ve not done a lot with the garden… It’s just been about maintenance, cutting the grass, trimming the hedges and so on. The previous people who lived here seem to have been quite into gardening as it has been beautiful through the seasons. But because we haven’t looked after it and pruned things, it’s gone a bit feral.
As we aren’t religious Easter for us is about spending time together as a family and perhaps getting a couple of bigger DIY jobs under our belt. I’m hoping this Easter we’ll be able to spend a lot of it outside and start on the huge job that is the garden. We are lucky to have a South facing garden and it sunny all day (when the sun is out).
So my plan is for us to make the most of the garden this Easter and it is a great time to get out there and make a start, fingers crossed the weather will be dry. If we are really lucky we’ll be able to have some Easter tea parties outside too, along with our traditional Easter egg hunt.
We have some wrought iron garden chairs already but we need a outdoor table for the garden, I’ll be popping into Homesense to check their outdoor furniture arrivals as I loved the ones they had this time last year. We’ve had a marble topped one (too heavy) and we currently are loaning a plastic one from my parents, but I’d really like a long term solution.
My long term plans for the garden include one of those canopies at the back of the house, which would come out over the patio and provide some much needed shade for when it is really bright. And I’d love to create a space which is like a interior lounge room but outside. Perhaps with lanterns, like these from Homesense, dotted around to give it a cosy feel. A bit like these images below (picture credits on my Pinterest board).
