Dressing like a man

The lovely Swagger & Swoon recently sent me a gorgeous cravat… I’ve always loved a cravat on a man but also think that women can more than work a cravat. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a one on Katherine Hepburn, so if its ok for her then it’s ok for me!

I tried to take these pictures outside but the typical Mancunian weather got the better of me so we are inside my hallway looking pretty windswept!

I’ve teamed a Fort & Stone Green English Paisley Silk Cravat from Swagger & Swoon with a mustard jacket from the 1960’s, which picks out the colour in the cravat, and a simple black polo neck from Primarni, along with my trusty mums uniform- jeans from Gap.

Yes I’m a vintage girl who loves jeans- who knew! I think some people are disappointed when they meet me as they imagine I go round in a 1950’s prom dress 24/7- maybe in my dream world where I have staff called Jeeves and Tilly 😉

What do you wear that is meant for the opposite sex?

Oh and stay tuned I’m putting together a Christmas giveaway!

And for those that have signed up for the “Freelancer, blogger no proper jobber” Christmas party the date is 13th December  I’m just confirming the location.

See you soon!

I’m a vintage girl who loves jeans too. You are not alone! Love this post, I’ve got plans for a cravat post too, good to us ladies are taking over the chaps wardrobes! I think they are perfect unisex neck wear!

Women have been wearing jeans since the 50s, so I am always puzzled why anyone feels disappointed when they meet a vintage fan wearing them. Does vintage mean we should wear only things that are less common today? I love my jeans vintage and modern!

I also love less stereotypically girly vintage – borrowing from male style is VERY vintage… I would love to see more slacks, suits, cravats etc’ and vintage looks such as androgenous 20s babes, teddy girls and beatnick chicks!

I couldn’t agree more! Folks who perhaps aren’t into the scene as much perhaps don’t associate jeans with bygone times!

Marvellous cravat! It looks super on you. It’s definitely an item that can be worn by either sex and comes in very handy during the colder months. I only have a couple at present but it’s the type of accessory I’m keen as mustard to add to.
