Candy Peel goes Vintage visits Lymm

Recently we went to a new fair on the vintage scene- Candy Peel goes Vintage, our review of the edition in Sale is here.

Kate Parkinson is the brains behind this new venture, her interest in vintage started from a young age, sparked by parents having a passion for music of the 1950’s & 1960’s. From the age of eleven, she would go with them to musicals like ‘Buddy’, ‘That’ll be the day’ and ‘Only the Lonely’, and was mesmerised by the music, the glamour and the fashion.

Growing up she was drawn to study Art & Design at college and later University, she was particularly interested in the Arts & Crafts Movement and also developed an keen eye for furniture design from the 1950’s & 1960’s.

With a love of all things vintage and a passion for making things,Kate really wanted to create an event that covered both passions, with something for everyone. So she spent a lot of time travelling to other fairs, always watching out for some fairs closer to home.

Knowing there was definitely demand and a gap in the market in her local area, Kate set up her first fair in Sale, Cheshire. However, she has quickly spread her wings and is proud to add Lymm Village Hall, Sale Waterside, which is their new Sale location and Worsley Golf Club, at Monton Green to her list of venues.

At the fairs you Kate wants a real mix of businesses with a good variety of quality stalls, which will appeal to everyone. So expect to see vintage clothing, bags, jewellery, homeware’s and Art, along with some fabulous handmade pieces and up-cycled crafts.

If this all sounds right up your street then the next event is in Lymm on Saturday 13th July, where they will be launching Candy’s Pop up Tea Room, with vintage china cups & saucers, lots of cakes and sandwiches for Afternoon Tea and gorgeous teapots and tea-cosies.

With a slight difference from other vintage & craft fairs, Kate always ensures each of the fairs is giving something to charity. So she may offer two stalls to a local charity in the area, or perhaps take donations for charities if they prefer. Kate feel supporting great causes is giving something back to the community.

In a previous life Kate spent some years as a wedding planner, so you might see some vintage wedding events from Candy Peel goes Vintage! Watch this space!
