Aunt Susie’s Slice of Advice- Part 3: Stylish tummy hiding!

Hi Susie!

My weight has been yo-yoing and at the moment I have a little tum! Can you please tell me what shapes and hints will disguise my tum, while still ensuring I look stylish and fashionable, preventing the old ladies in my family constantly speculating if I’m pregnant!

Thanks

Hello there VA!
I’m sure that’s the question any girl dreads when she isn’t pregnant!!
The key things are to avoid details around bust, tummy and hips. Keep details in shoulder and neck area e.g. with a fabulous brooch, and your feet- as if you needed an excuse to wear amazing statement shoes maybe wedges! The idea being to distract the eye away from the problem area.
These are by Miss L Fire at £69.99. Find them here
Avoid clutch bags or shoulder bags go for a handbag instead like this, for £19, from online vintage shop Marthas Closet.

.
A-line skims the body rather than clinging to it and this dress takes attention away from the tummy by focusing on the legs. This is more of an investment at £99 but it’s so versatile you’ll wear it for years. Find it here.

This T-Shirt, skims the tummy area so would be fine worn outside of the jeans rather than tucked in as on the model here. As for jeans, avoid any embellishments, rips or anything decorative and go for dark colours.

And last but not least its the good old maxi dress! These can cover a multitude of sins and show off the slim areas like shoulders and ankles. These two are from online clothes store Boohoo.

Rosa Swirl maxi here. £20!
Lola Maxi here. £15!
Hope this helps!!

Wearing heels is also a great way to elongate the body and flatten the tummy (changes your posture).

V neck tops are good too because they make your waist look more narrow.

    Great tips Susie!
