A bag good enough to eat!

They say when pregnant you should make the most of your handbag collection, impractical as some of them may be. It’s only a matter of time until you’ll be carrying around nappies, spare clothes, bibs, wipes, bottles- mine is a gin btw 😉 …

It’s with this thought that when I was approached by Surfdome, with the opportunity of choosing something from their site in exchange for a review, that I threw cation to the wind and ignored my usual Virgoan trait of practicality… My fingers gravitated towards the handbag section and when I saw they stocked vintage inspired handbag brand Ollie & Nic I knew I’d found the place to find my prize!

I went for this delightful Apple Basket Bag! As soon as I saw it, thoughts of the 1950’s came to mind. Basket bags were popular in the fifties and original ones can fetch quite a price today, here’s some original ones…

Clockwise from top left, Lily of the Valley bag from secretsiren.co.uk £300, Bright floral bag from ladyviolette.com blog, and the bottom two were on Etsy but have now sold…

Despite me thinking it wouldn’t be a practical choice the apple bag is a lot more spacious inside than I thought it would be. I will be sporting this bag at every opportunity this summer and making the most of it before I need to start lugging around baby stuff.

It has a really cute polka dot lining and fastens with a popper at the stalk park of the apple. It also has a detachable shoulder strap which I probably wont be using initially but may do when I need my hands free for grappling children.

Typically the sunny weather disappeared when the bag arrived, so I’ve not been able to get outside and do an outfit post with the bag- I fully intend to though so stay tuned.

Love the bag and love Ollie & Nic. I have a gorgeous red leather bag from them that I bought in London last year after a particularly stressful visit to the Rainforest cafe!! Xx

Haha- this made me chuckle- I’ve never been to the Rainforest Cafe but I imagine your purchase was highly justified!
